Our Story
In 1984, Bobby recognized Greg’s potential and made him a part-owner of Reese Builders Hardware. Greg, always forward-thinking, recognized that the door hardware industry was rapidly changing. With a keen eye on the future, he believed that electronic security systems were the key to staying competitive. In 1999, Greg took the bold step of purchasing both Tex-Oma Builders Supply and Reese Builders Hardware Co. and merged the two companies together, marking a new chapter of growth and innovation for the company.
Fred eventually became the Vice President of Operations and, in 2018, was appointed Vice President overseeing the entire company.
In 2018, after receiving offers from potential buyers, Greg made a decision to retire and sell Tex-Oma Builders Supply back to its employees. This made the company one of the few Employee Stock Ownership Companies (ESOP) in the Wichita Falls area, ensuring that the company’s culture and values would remain intact. Under employee ownership, the company has continued to thrive, acquiring three Overhead Door locations in Denison, TX, Lawton, OK, and Abilene, TX.
As of October 1, 2024, Greg Cox retired and passed the torch to Fred Sharp. Under Fred’s leadership, Tex-Oma Builders Supply is poised to continue its legacy of excellence, growth, and community involvement for many years to come.
